Infrared
The Invisible World

So about 20 years ago I picked up my first infrared converted digital camera. I had been greatly inspired by both the wedding portrait work of Joe Buissink using infrared film and the work of Sir Simon Marsden and wanted to dabble in it myself. Talked about getting hooked.

The first year or two was entirely B&W outdoors, but then in the studio I decided to play with it as well, first in B&W then in color. The color with its custom white balance mixing with the studio lights gave an amazing blue hue, and the fine art project “Blue Shift Infrared” was born and ran about two years.

These days I’m mostly back to B&W outdoor nature imagery but the door is always open to revisit some creative portraiture in this style.
